Warranties

At Strawberry Solar, we stand behind the quality of our work and the products we install. When you choose us, you’re protected by two types of warranties:

A 10-year workmanship warranty covering the installation of your system

Robust product warranties from the manufacturers of your solar panels and components.

Our workmanship warranty ensures that all installation work completed by our team—or our subcontractors—is covered in the unlikely event of an installation issue. Meanwhile, your solar panel product warranties protect you against equipment issues like defects, premature wear, or manufacturing faults, often for 25 years or more depending on the product. Together, these warranties give you peace of mind for the long run.

Strawberry Solar Workmanship Warranty

We provide a 10-year warranty on all of the installation work performed by Strawberry Solar, or its subcontractors.

What is a solar panel product warranty?

Also known as a materials warranty, a solar panel product warranty covers the integrity of the equipment itself. If any of your solar panels have a defect or mechanical issue, if they break or fracture, or experience unreasonable wear and tear, that’s when your product warranty comes into play. Nowadays, most manufacturers offer at least 10 years of coverage under a product warranty, while some premium options have 25 or even 30+ years of protection against product defects.

This warranty specifically covers issues like:

  • Frame corrosion and structural integrity problems
  • Junction box failures or detachment
  • Delamination of panel layers
  • Micro-cracks not caused by external forces
  • Premature backsheet deterioration
  • Wiring defects and connection failures
  • Material degradation beyond normal wear

Solar Warranty FAQs

Does my solar panel warranty cover damage from severe weather like hailstorms?

Most manufacturer product warranties don’t cover damage from extreme weather events like hailstorms, tornadoes, or hurricanes. However, quality solar panels are built to withstand significant weather conditions, including heavy rain, snow, hail up to 1 inch in diameter, and 50+ mph winds.

For weather-related damage beyond these tolerances, your homeowner’s insurance policy typically covers solar panels as a permanent attachment to your home. We recommend confirming this coverage with your insurance provider and considering whether your deductible should be adjusted based on your solar investment. Our team can provide documentation about your system’s value for insurance purposes.

What happens to my warranty protection if the solar panel manufacturer goes out of business?

If a manufacturer goes out of business, their warranty obligations typically end unless another company has acquired those obligations. This is why we partner with well-established manufacturers with decades of industry experience and strong financial stability.

If I sell my home, can the new owner benefit from the remaining warranty coverage?

Yes! Most solar warranties are fully transferable to new homeowners, which adds significant value when selling your home.

What types of issues typically aren’t covered by solar warranties?

While solar warranties are comprehensive, they don’t cover everything. Common exclusions include:

  • Damage from improper maintenance or unauthorized repairs
  • Problems caused by extreme weather events beyond design tolerances
  • Cosmetic changes that don’t affect performance
  • Damage from animals, pests, or falling debris
  • System issues caused by grid power problems
  • Damage during relocation or reinstallation of the system
  • Normal wear and performance degradation within specified limits

Our workmanship warranty covers you on any installation-related issues and we’ll be able to provide guidance on product warranty specifics after an inspection.
